Freshman College Credit Offered by Northwestern College and Bethlehem Baptist Church of Minneapolis
April 9, 2008 – 4:22 pmBethlehem Baptist Church of Minneapolis in cooperation with Northwestern College offers INSIGHT, a freshman year of college ideally suited for homeschooled students. The church is a congregation of 4,000, pastored by John Piper, the author of over thirty books. (For information on the church itself, go to our website www.hopeingod.org.)
The INSIGHT curriculum integrates Bible, History, Anthropology and Philosophy, covering the history of civilization from creation to the present day from a Christian and missions perspective. Those taking the INSIGHT program are official Northwestern College students and receive fully transferable credits from Northwestern.
Our methodology is unique in that for each class we bring in a person with particular expertise on the day’s topic including professors from Northwestern College, Bethel University and Bethel Seminary. Each year the students have had over forty Christian scholars lead their discussions. We believe there is not another freshman program like this in the country that exposes students to so many godly teachers who are experts in their field of study.
The INSIGHT program offers financial benefits as well. The tuition is just a fraction of that at a residential Christian college and qualifying students are eligible to apply for scholarships and grants through Northwestern College.
We have had several students in the program who have been educated at home and believe this to be an ideal transition to higher education.
